Pastor Currie was born and raised in Allen Park, Michigan. After graduating from Bob Jones University, he began pastoral ministry as an assistant at Inter-City Baptist Church. In 1987, shortly after he graduated from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary, he accepted Maranatha's call to become Senior Pastor. He and his wife Sue raised their three children, Scott, Kristin, and Laura here. Pastor Currie serves Maranatha through his preaching ministry and by leading us in our mission to glorify God by making and maturing disciples. He especially enjoys the opportunities he has to minister to and care for members as they face life's challenges. A few of his favorite pastimes are Michigan football, Tiger baseball, and hanging out with his grandkids.

Nathan Gearhart Assistant Pastor

Pastor Nate is a native of Michigan. He joined the staff in 2004, serving as an intern working with the College & Career. Now Nate serves Maranatha by assisting Pastor Currie. He carries out administrative duties involving missions, Adult Bible Fellowships, and office management. He graduated from Maranatha Baptist Bible College and Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. Nate and his wife Kristin have three sons, Sam, Gabe, and Max. Nate enjoys opportunities to share counsel from God's Word. He likes reading and has a lot of interest in East Asia.

Joey McNally Youth Pastor

Pastor Joey was raised in the northwest corner of Connecticut. After graduating from Northland Baptist Bible College in 2005, he moved to Michigan to begin pursing his Master's of Divinity from Detroit Baptist Theological Seminary. He joined the staff at Maranatha in the summer of 2007 where he currently directs the youth ministries. He and his wife Julie have one daughter, Brooke. Joey enjoys playing golf, eating out, watching the Red Sox and Steelers, and teaching the teen Sunday School class.
